WANDERING SEMINAR: B-FREE SYSTEMS AND GENERALISATIONS

Workshop on the dynamics of B-free numbers and related dynamical systems

6th - 9th of June 2024, Kraków

B-free systems are symbolic dynamical systems of arithmetic origin. In one dimension they have been studied for a long time, considerably less is known on their higher-dimensional analogues. Starting from the visible points of the integer lattice, a large class of such systems emerge via k-free integers in algebraic number fields. The conference will be devoted to the state of the art of that emerging field. Topics discussed include typical examples with some focus on their spectral properties and on topological invariants such as entropy and (extended) symmetries.

The event will begin on Thursday, June 6, at 15 o’clock with introductory lectures only in the afternoon. The scientific program starts on Friday morning and ends on Sunday, June 9, around noon. More information about the program and speakers can be found here.

You can register for this event until the 4th of June 2024. Please email the local organizers if you have any questions or comments.

The Wandering Seminar is an initiative which aims at integrating ergodic theory and dynamical systems research groups in Poland. These meetings are to be devoted to actual research topics in our area. Contrary to what the title suggests, this should be a recurring event, which only wanders geographically across Polish universities with dynamical systems research groups.
